Our vision

Our Vision is to create an inclusive gaming ecosytem where people can rediscover the simple joy of playing together. This reflects our desire to create numerous, interconnected play opportunities that appeal to a multitude of diverse individuals and groups; but it is also a commitment to ensure the positive impact of our products on the environment and in society.

We are conscious that as a gaming company with physical and digital products we will have an impact on the environment; however, we are actively trying to minimise that impact through our product decisions and supplier agreements and will be doing more in the future to reach our goal of being carbon positive by 2027.

What we’re doing to minimise our environmental impact

When we started designing Footboard Classic, we were guided by the principle that we wouldn’t have plastic in the game. This significantly constrained our design options, particularly for our playing counters and ball, but was undoubtedly the right decision.

As we were also keen to minimise emissions, particularly in transporting our products, the option to have Footboard manufactured in China became all but impossible. As a consequence, our unit price increased significantly, but again, we were certain that prioritising planet over profits was the right moral and product choice.

We were fortunate to meet our supplier Ludofact at the Birmingham Games Expo in 2022 as they shared our vision for sustainable physical products. Their manufacture is carbon-neutral and all the materials we use are FSC certified and WeCare approved. Though we are required to have a plastic wrapper on our box, that is the only plastic across our product.

WHAT WE’RE DOING NEXT

It’s not just our physical manufacture that has an impact on the environment, running a digital app creates carbon emissions. As a young company, we first want to get Football Digital in people’s hands, but we will not compromise on our commitment to being carbon positive as we grow, with the following steps planned to deliver on that commitment in the coming years:

  • Holistic impact measurement and end-to-end supply chain transparency
  • Built-in measures to reduce BAU impact (e.g. waste management)
  • Investment in certified schemes to replace carbon (e.g. afforestation)
  • B-Corp certification
